What Is Parasailing?
Parasailing is being lifted into the air by a special parachute wing while towed on a rope by a speedboat. As the boat speeds up the wing inflates, the wind fills it, and you rise while seated safely in a harness.
Throughout the flight the rope stays under the boat's control. Going up and coming down is managed by the captain's winch system — all you have to do is enjoy the view.
Is parasailing the same as paragliding?
No — they're often confused but completely different. Paragliding, the activity Ölüdeniz is famous for, means jumping off Babadağ with a pilot and gliding down to the beach. Parasailing is a much shorter flight over the sea, attached to a boat.
- If you have a fear of heights, parasailing is far gentler — take-off and landing are controlled, there's no free fall.
- It's short, so it's ideal for families with children and first-timers.
- You can stay dry — or ask the captain to "dip your feet" in the sea, which most guests say is the best moment.
Solo or together?
Parasailing can be done solo, or as a double or triple flight. Doubles are especially popular with couples and anyone hesitant to go up alone. Parent–child pairs are the most common combination we see.

How Is Parasailing Done in Ölüdeniz?
From the moment you arrive at our stand on Belcekız Beach to the moment your feet are back on the sand, here's how it works:
- Welcome and check-in. Drop by our stand on the beach. How many are flying, single or double, do you want photos/drone video — we'll go over it all and take your place in the queue.
- Safety briefing. Our team gives a short, clear briefing before the flight: how to sit, where to hold, what to do at take-off and landing, and the hand signals to use with the captain.
- Equipment and life jacket. A properly sized harness and life jacket are fitted, and every buckle is checked. We do this on every flight — no exceptions.
- Boarding. You're taken from the beach onto our speedboat, which heads to the flight area off Belcekız.
- Take-off. You sit on the launch platform at the back of the boat. The captain opens the throttle, the wing inflates, and you lift off smoothly — no running, no jumping. This first ten seconds is when everyone gasps.
- The flight. As the rope pays out you rise and follow the boat far behind. Below you: the Ölüdeniz lagoon, Belcekız Beach, the umbrellas lined along the shore, paragliders drifting down from Babadağ on the horizon. All you hear is the wind.
- Landing. The captain slowly reels in the rope and lands you on the platform. Want to wet your feet? Just signal the captain — he'll bring you just above the water.
- Return. The boat pulls up to the beach and you collect your photos and videos.
With no queue, the whole process usually takes about half an hour; the airborne time depends on your flight package.

The question guests ask most: "Will I be scared?" The honest answer: yes before take-off, no three seconds after.
The secret of parasailing is that nothing triggers the fear. No free fall, no sudden manoeuvres, no equipment you have to control yourself. The rise is so smooth most guests ask "when did we take off?" And up top, contrary to what you'd expect, even the wind is calm — because you're moving at the same speed as the boat.
Ölüdeniz really does look different from above. The sharp line between the bright turquoise of the shallow lagoon and the deep blue beyond it can only be seen from the air. And that famous moment: signal the captain and he'll dip your feet in the sea as you land. On a hot day, after coming down from hundreds of metres up, that cool water on your feet is what most guests call "the best moment of the day."

Safety: non-negotiable for us
Done properly, parasailing is an extremely safe activity. "Properly" means never compromising on any of these:
- The weather call is ours. If the wind isn't right we don't fly — even if a guest insists. There's no charge for a postponed flight, of course.
- A briefing before every flight. Short, but never skipped.
- Double checks. Harness and buckles are checked by two different team members.
- Life jacket is mandatory. Even if you can swim, it stays on for the whole flight.
- Capacity limits are respected. We don't take off above the wing's capacity.
- No intoxicated guests. We don't bend on this.
What not to bring
During the flight you should not have a phone, sunglasses, hat, jewellery or camera on you. There's both a risk of dropping them and someone below in the water or a boat. Leave your belongings with our team; we're capturing the footage anyway.
Who can join
Who Can Do Parasailing?
Parasailing appeals to the widest range of people of any water sport. No paddling, no balancing, no swimming needed.
You can do it
- If you can't swim — the life jacket is on and you don't enter the water. Many of our guests who can't swim go parasailing.
- If you've never done a water sport — no experience required.
- With your child — children above the age limit can fly as a double with a parent.
- If you're mildly afraid of heights — because it's controlled and gentle, there's usually no problem.
When you shouldn't
- Pregnancy
- Serious heart or blood-pressure conditions
- Recent surgery, fracture or a cast
- Serious back, neck or shoulder problems
- Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs

Getting ready
What to Bring, What to Wear
- Swimwear — you can wear shorts/a dress over it; getting wet is optional.
- Sun cream — there's no shade up there, apply before take-off.
- A towel — especially if you choose to dip your feet.
- Comfortable clothing — the harness goes around your waist and legs, so loose clothes aren't practical.
- A hair tie — makes it easier for long hair.
Leave behind: phone, sunglasses, hat, necklaces/earrings, keychains. You can safely leave valuables at our stand.

What to Know About Parasailing in Ölüdeniz
Which time of day is best?
Mornings usually offer the calmest sea and clearest views; when the water is like glass the lagoon looks incredible from above. Late afternoon has softer light and is the best time for photos. Midday is both the busiest and the windiest.
When is the season?
The water sports season in Ölüdeniz generally opens in spring and runs until late October. July–August is the peak; June and September are many guests' favourites for both weather and crowds.
Do I need to book?
Not required — you can come straight to our stand on Belcekız Beach. On busy days and for group flights, though, we recommend messaging us in advance by phone or WhatsApp to secure your time slot.
Photos and drone video

Is parasailing in Ölüdeniz safe?
Yes. Parasailing has controlled take-off and landing, with the rope entirely under the boat's control. We give a safety briefing before every flight and check the harness and life jacket twice. If the wind isn't suitable we don't fly — a call we make regardless of guest requests.
Is parasailing scary? It's my first time.
It's normal to feel excited before take-off, but parasailing doesn't contain the things that trigger fear: no free fall, no sudden manoeuvres, no equipment you have to control. The rise is so smooth most guests ask "when did we take off?" It's the ideal first water sport.
I can't swim — can I go parasailing?
Yes. You don't enter the water during the flight and your life jacket is on. Take-off and landing are from the boat platform. Many of our guests who can't swim go parasailing.
How high does parasailing go?
Height depends on how much rope is let out, the wind and the total weight; it usually goes above a hundred metres. If you have a height preference, tell the captain before take-off — a lower flight is possible too.
How long does parasailing last?
Airborne time depends on the flight package you choose, usually around 10–15 minutes. Including departure from the beach, the boat ride and return, the whole process takes about half an hour.
Can children go parasailing?
Children above a certain age can fly as a double with a parent. Age and weight limits are strict for safety; for current limits please message us on WhatsApp or ask our team at the stand.
Will I get wet?
Not unless you want to — you can go up and come down dry. But if you like, signal the captain and he'll dip your feet in the sea on landing. On hot days it's the most popular and most-loved moment.
Do I have to fly alone?
No. You can fly solo, or as a double or triple. Couples, groups of friends and parent–child pairs usually prefer to fly together.
Can I take my phone with me?
For safety we ask you not to take a phone, sunglasses, hat or jewellery — dropping them is dangerous for you and for anyone below. Instead you can use our professional photo and drone video service; leave your belongings safely at our stand.
Do I need a reservation?
Not required — you can come straight to our stand on Belcekız Beach. On busy days and for large groups we recommend messaging by phone or WhatsApp in advance to secure your time.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If wind or sea conditions aren't suitable we don't fly. In that case we move your flight to a suitable time the same day or another day. We never compromise on safety.
